Education Aid from the State

In Massachusetts, Chapter 70 aid is the principal for of state aid for elementary and secondary education.  The Commonwealth calculates the ability of a community to pay for local education for an educational “foundation” and it attempts to fill the difference with state funds.  This funding system not only adjusts for the less financial resources in some communities, but also the greater financial resources required in impoverished communities to address educational needs.
